2024 has been an extraordinary year for DigitalOwl—a year defined by innovation, growth, and remarkable achievements. Reflecting on our journey, it’s incredible to see how far we’ve come from the initial idea that sparked this company: solving the inefficiencies of medical record reviews that I, as a personal injury lawyer, experienced firsthand.
What started as a mission to empower underwriters, claims analysts and legal professionals with innovative AI solutions has grown into a comprehensive product ecosystem supported by a team of exceptional individuals, and this year, we’ve elevated that mission to new heights.
Innovation defined this year. We launched a new platform, creating a one-stop destination for advanced medical data analysis. More than just a technological upgrade, our platform adapts to client needs, offering unparalleled flexibility and efficiency. It empowers organizations to reduce costs, maximize ROI, improve accuracy, and completely transform the way medical records are reviewed, setting a new benchmark for the industry.
We were the first (and only) to market with AI agents designed specifically for insurance-related medical record reviews through our innovative product, Case Notes. This breakthrough represents the next evolution of GenAI in insurance, moving beyond summarization to deliver actionable insights. The true magic of this innovation lies in the ability of these AI agents to do more than just extract data—they connect the dots, dive deeper, and "solve the problem" for underwriters, claims analysts, and legal professionals by providing critical insights for decision-making.
This saves insurance and legal professionals valuable time that would otherwise be spent reviewing data. Early feedback indicates an impressive 80% reduction in medical record review time. One user noted that DigitalOwl’s Case Notes consistently provided shorter, more concise insights compared to traditional summaries, saving critical time. In two out of three cases, Case Notes condensed insights by an entire page, and even when the length was similar, the streamlined format allowed for a significantly faster review process.
Early feedback indicates an impressive 80% reduction in medical record review time.
We also introduced Workflows, a new product that supports AI-assisted decision-making, transforming the complexity of creating workflows and decision trees into a straightforward, user-friendly experience. This innovative tool's ability to assess severity is already generating excitement among our customers. As Zach Pugh, Chief Underwriter and Vice President of Underwriting Transformation at Legal & General America noted, Workflows could increase efficiency “well beyond the current 60% to 70% time savings LGA is already achieving."
Our Case Notes webinar set new records for audience participation and engagement, underscoring the growing demand for innovative solutions in medical record analysis. We outpaced all our competitors on LinkedIn this year, achieving thousands of engagements—14% more than our closest rival. This solidifies our position as the leader in driving meaningful interactions within our industry.
Beyond product launches, we were out in the field, attending conferences across the country—from Las Vegas to New York City and everywhere in between. These events provided opportunities to connect with industry leaders, showcase our innovations, and reaffirm our position as a trailblazer in InsurTech.
We made significant strides by building relationships that are reshaping the landscape of medical data analysis and insurance operations. We’re honored to partner with Reinsurance Group of America (RGA), a leader in advancing underwriting excellence. This collaboration combines RGA’s decades of underwriting expertise with DigitalOwl’s AI technology to transform medical data into comprehensive, digital underwriting solutions.
Another one of our proud collaborations is with ExamOne, where we’ve joined forces to streamline medical data analysis. This collaboration will strategically align with both companies’ goals of making the medical record retrieval process smoother, more efficient, and ultimately more user friendly for professionals in the insurance and legal industries.
Our partnership with Dynacare further exemplifies our commitment to innovation. Together, we are redefining the Canadian life insurance industry with a groundbreaking suite of solutions that improve efficiency and accessibility for insurers and policyholders alike, paving the way for a more modernized approach to insurance processes.
Our collaboration with Libra Insurance Partners has also been transformative. Historically, underwriting has been one of the least efficient steps in life insurance submissions. By adopting DigitalOwl’s technology, Libra has significantly streamlined its operations, reducing the financial and human strain of manual reviews while ensuring seamless alignment of conventional and electronic health records with application data and real-time underwriting needs.
We were equally excited to join forces with Nationwide, a relationship that highlights the power of generative AI in enhancing the underwriting experience. By automating administrative tasks, Nationwide’s underwriters can now focus on critical medical data, enriching the overall process and laying the groundwork for future advancements.
We’re also thrilled to work with Legal and General America (LGA), where our technology has significantly transformed their operations. By integrating DigitalOwl’s advanced AI solutions, LGA has reduced post-issue audit effort by 60%. This relationship enhances the efficiency of their underwriting processes and demonstrates the substantial impact of AI in reducing workload and improving accuracy.
Together, these relationships and partnerships represent our relentless drive to innovate, streamline workflows, and empower our clients with tools that not only improve efficiency but also set the stage for the future of insurance.
